Good morning friends!
Today I'm bringing you a very special post.
(kinda long, so go grab your coffee real quick & pause whatever you're watching on tv!)
Remember a few months ago when I told you about a wonderful book written by a very sweet, lovely
& talented friend of mine Courtney Walsh?
Her first book, A Sweethaven Summer is such an incredible book.
It's one of my very favorites!
Well she's written another one!
That's right!
It was just released & I'm halfway through mine right now.
It's A Sweethaven Homecoming. I'm not going to give anything away about the story
other than to tell you it's SO GOOD! I can hardly put it down!
(this girl has been blessed with incredible writing skills!)
Now that you know you HAVE to go get her books -
here's my reason for blogging about them today:
Courtney asked me to participate in THIS;
Courtney put together this WONDERFUL week long giveaway
which highlights what I thinkis the importance (and true meaning) of scrapbooking
with several layouts created by her friends (hey that's me!) PLUS giveaways!!
Go check it out HERE
(plus - keep reading for a giveaway at the end of this post!)
That layout - let me tell you about it...
My journaling pretty much says it all.
I’m truly BLESSED. God gave Alan and I 2
incredible children.
They’re grown and off to college now so it’s kinda strange
in our house. Even with 4 dogs....it’s Q.U.I.E.T!
No pitter patter of bigger teenage feet.
No pitter patter of bigger teenage feet.
No, “Mom can you take me here” or “Mom, go to the mall with me” or
“What’s for dinner?”.
No house full of teenagers and their friends.
But that’s ok. Sometimes I secretly dwell in the quiet.
But that’s ok. Sometimes I secretly dwell in the quiet.
I reflect in all the
memories that we’ve made as a family from birth on with these 2.
I reflect in
the joy, sorrow, happiness, craziness, chaos, quiet, laughter, tears.
I reflect
in the fact that
God blessed me with a gift. Motherhood.
Even though my husband and I
started out kinda young
(when we got married, I was 21, had my first baby at 22,
2nd one at 23!)
it’s been one of the greatest gifts available to me.
I thank God for my gifts. My babies.
I thank God for my gifts. My babies.
I also sit and reflect that one child is only 45
minutes away at college and can come home anytime she wants
(and she does! Gosh
I love her for that)
and the other is 5 long hours away and a phone call is the
fastest means of communication for us.
I remember that even though our nest
is empty right now – when it’s the weekends, holiday breaks or summer
my nest
is so very full! I live for those moments.
You can read my journaling by clicking on my layout.
It's simple...but to the point. I'm so blessed.
I chose to use fabric on my layout for several reasons.
It reminds me of my family & how delicate
and precious they are. By tying the gray lace around my piece,
it reminded me of me holding on to my children forever.
Even though they're 20 and 21 now, they're still my babies.
I left some fray's at the bottom to represent them leaving our nest & figuring out life on their
I left some fray's at the bottom to represent them leaving our nest & figuring out life on their
own. I added the 2 fabric hearts to let them know
I'll hold their hearts with me today and always.
Here's a few detail shots:

Oh wow Leslie! This is such an awesome post today! One thing i LOVE so much to do with my family is go to the river and picnic! It's a time to just sit and hang out with no distractions and just ENJOY my kiddos. They can be loud and play and be so much fun!
That's such a sweet page. And it reminds me of my own family - I am the kid who left the nest but loves to visit.
WOW! AWESOME giveaway! Can't wait to get my hands on Courtney's books! The thing I love to do with my family - is actually get together! Myself, my husband and my children all moved to the USA from the UK 2 years ago - heart-wrenching for us all - so there is nothing better than a good get together with our families when we can. We all miss each other so much - those times together are just so precious!
What a great giveaway - thanks for the chance! One of my favorite things to do with my family is to go on vacation. Its so nice when we get away from the everyday things and just get to enjoy each other and participate in fun activities!
Thanks for the chance to win such a great giveaway! We have pizza and movie night once a week with my family and we all look forward to it:)
What a lovely giveaway and that layout is so beautiful! One thing I always love to do with my family is to spend time together cooking and then eating a long time and talking together. Simple but fun :)
Love this page! The fabric, distressing on the photos, black and white, it's all so great. One of my favorite things to do with my family is to go to the zoo. We don't get there that often, but it's a special treat when we do.
Sometimes it is fun to just all be together doing our own thing, but still together. That is what we are doing a lot this summer. Enjoy our times together doing not much. Thanks for a chance to win. The book looks awesome.
I don't have children, but my fav thing to do with my husband is date night. Every friday, we have a date and I look forward to it all week.
WOW! What an amazing giveaway. Thanks so much for a chance to win.
My favorite thing to do with my family is going out to dinner. No TV to distract the kids and no arguing about clean up. We concentrate only on conversation. It's a chance to catch up on everything.
Hugs,
Robin
I love just all of us being together at the same time. As the grandkids get older it is harder to have everyone here at the same time. I love to cook and hangout!
Fabulous candy offer. I've just finished a series of books. Thanks for the review. I will have to check this out. Thanks for a chance to win it.
What an amazing giveaway!
My favorite thing to do with my family is to go to the local ice cream store. There we select from many flavors and toppings--all self serve! So fun!
I could have written your journaling! I have two out of college. one is 20 minutes away and the other across the country! I miss the craziness and mayhem and cherish the memories we have made. I love that the 24 year old son who is closest humors me with things like pumpkin hunting or egg dying so that I can carry on traditions we started when they were little!
Such a beautiful layout!
I loved Courntey's first book and look forward to the next!
OHHH! What a fabulous giveaway--this book looks amazing!
I love spending time with my family--esp. when we play Euchre together! We play with up to 8 players! OH MY! SOOOOO fun! We chat and giggle--fun times for all:)
THANKS for the chance to win:) sbmmhoover at yahoo dot com

your page is incredible and i love the heart felt journaling!!
as a family jd, jake and i do a lot of fun things together but what comes to my mind first is: i love to just be with my boy. many times he comes into my craft room late at night when i am scrapbooking just to hang out. it is in these times that he really opens up to me and tells me what is happening in is life...
such an awesome giveaway! thanks for a chance to win!
Wow! Awesome giveaway! I have a very small family which are in 3 different states, so I love when we can all get together at one time and just enjoy catching up with each other and enjoy all the great cooking
that the men in the family take care of!
I love cooking and family trips!
Beautiful layout! Great texture, lovely words. My hubby & I enjoy cooking together. We've given up TV for the summer, and are enjoying getting to know each other again.
All 3 of my sons are out of the house now, 2 share an apartment and one is serving in the USAF Japan. We love our Sunday evenings together eating dinner out on the back patio and then skyping our other son in Japan, which is his Monday morning! lol. It's been extremely hot this year in Oklahoma, so outside dinners have been a bit fewer this year but we always enjoy getting around the computer and spending time together ...the techno way!
I love our time at the dinner table! Everyone is relaxed and enjoying themselves and we share ideas and experiences! It just is the best way to come together as a family once a day! Thanks for all you share!!!
Hi.. Thanks for the chance. Lovely candy.
I love to watch movie at home with my son and my husband. We eat popcorn and laugh a lot. It's super fun.
Hugs

I loved her first book in the series and can't wait to read this one. One favorite thing our family does together (in the summer), is enjoy being in the pool together. So many fun times this summer.
I have to admit I felt a little bit envious reading this post because I wasn't able to have children so I don't have the "traditional" family. I live with, and care for, my elderly mother. And I thank God for my life just the way it is, but some days you wonder what it would have been like to get to be a mom, ya know?
Anyway, because my life is different, my answer will be a bit different too. These days due to health issues we have a hard time getting out, but we are voracious readers, so one of the things we love to do is go to the library and pick out tons of books to last us for awhile. Then we come home and read and swap stories about authors and books we liked, didn't like and why. I am glad that my parents instilled a love of reading in me from a young age and that it is something that Mom and I still share.
Thanks for the chance to win this lovely and generous giveaway!
Wonderful sb page/layout! Quite creative! Family special time is grilling out and swimming!
My kids are pretty much the same age as yours...my oldest is married so we don't see them too often as they live a 6 hour drive away. But nothing is sweeter to me than to have all of my family,( my 2 boys and daughter-in-law) home, listening to the chatter and the laughter. I can be anywhere in the house and when they start laughing it brings total joy to my heart. I'm so grateful that while I didn't give birth to my children, thorough the joy of adoption I was able to be their mother after all.
Oh my kids range from 23 - 4 years old! I have 5... and I love to have them all together and have a nice family gathering.. .dinner and take photos! This only happens 2x a year since one if them is in college in another state!
I love when our kids all come home with their partners and our grandchildren! It's usually at Christmas time and the food, fun, gifts, decorating and memories just fill my heart up. It's definitely my favourite time of the year!
hello!
I can say that the most fabolous thing in my life is my son, and his jingles in the morning!!
What a great giveaway with some awesome prizes! I was blessed to be called on to raise my youngest daughter. I love spending time with her - our favorite place is the State Forest near here. We both adore being outdoors and are big nature lovers! She is truly a mini-me and we share a lot of interests. :)
great giveaway! thanks so much for a chance to win!! My kids and I love to cook together! The younger ones love getting messy and it gives me and my older kids time to catch up and maybe discuss things that may other wise be awkward for one or both of us....lol. Not only are my boys going to know how to cook when they leave home, it really helps us bond!
Your blessed layout is beautiful! I am blessed with kids and grandkids, and some of my favorite moments are just sitting around the dinner table together discussing the day. Bath time with the grandkids is fun too!
We love to watch movies as a family so is always G or PG13.. we cuddle up and have popcorn and just enjoy being together. Recently we have spent a lot of time watching Olympics. we still have hours on DVR to go and we love it!
I love this layout and its meaning. Our family just came back from a holiday at a beautiful mountain spot and this is a place we return to for the beauty, the peace and our good friends. I am putting Courtney`s book on my ``To read`` list - perhaps a good candidate for my bookclub with ladies who can all relate to scrapbooking.
Ohh, love finding new blogs with new inspiration! :) Yesterday I went to a fun park with my nieces and their grandma - it was a beautiful and enjoyable day. I love watching them laugh (and are scared :P ) when they go on the rides! :)
Wow...your LO really hits home as I JUST walked in the door from taking my first to college! It's a huge change, but I feel so blessed to be a part of his life! Probably the most special thing....our nightly dinners....we've always enjoyed laughing, talking and connecting at the table every evening!
Leslie, I love your work!! Most of your LO's gave me some inspiration in the past.
The thing that I love is go to a restaurant with my family on sundays for having lunch. We spend a very nice moment, talking and enjoying some delicious food in a very relaxed way :)
Leslie, it is always such a treat to visit your blog. I love the story that you shared....the meaning behind every fiber of your beautiful layout!!
Thank you for sharing Courtney's book with us....she is awesome just like you!!
Love your scrapbook layout! Something I really need to sit down and do! Love Courtney's inspirations and hoping to get her newest book!
My family and I love to play board games and cards even though 2 are adults (22, and 21) and one 17 yo. Really gets funny!!
I love shopping with my family. Almost all of the time it get a bit jumbly when everyone wants and needs different things and we try to stay together but suddenly one is gone. Mostley my dad, and the next second everyone is gone for a while. Looking for him. And we end up shopping for hours. Afterwords we get together for a dinner out. :)
One of my favorite things is playing dominoes with my Husband and Daughter . Always turns into a giggle laugh fest .
