sorry about that!
life got in the way.....in a good way of course!
really - just busy, busy busy!

anyway...
today I want to share a layout & card I made for American Crafts
using my brand new toy...my Silhouette Cameo! I LOVE that thing!
Best invention, best investment & boy am I having the BEST time
playing with it!

This week is Silhouette week at the American Crafts Blog...
here's what I made:

I used the Dear Lizzy doily die cut. I enlarged it

to my entire page (12x12) and went to town with embellishing it.
I'm highlighting our grand"pup" girl I've introduced you to...Lilly!
She's so pretty!

Ashe - Party of 4 - Prima

hi friends!
it's monday, monday mooooonnnnddddaaaayyyy.
which means I'm getting my act together and plan to blog
all week long. OR at least I'll try. ♥

So it's the week after CHA
(Craft & Hobby Association show, for those
of you that are asking me..."what is CHA?)
Have you seen all of the new things coming out?
Are you inspired? What's been some of your favorites?
I sure have seen ALOT of lovely products & can't WAIT to get
my hands on them!

I find myself incredibly blessed to be able to design for
a few of the companies at the show. It's a fun/crazy/hectic/exhillarating
time just making lots of things in a time crunch. I know...weird, right?
Creating that way is what inspires me to keep on creating.
Anyway, enough gab - have you seen all of the Prima goodness?
I am sharing an album I created for the show using the Donna Downey
canvas album, along with the brand new Doodle Deaux collection, plus

That was the most fun I've had getting all inky/painty/grungy! I loved playing with

the Ranger mixed mediums! Some things turned out to be an experiment gone

wrong - but the others, I truly adored!

Baby Love, My Baby Love

There are lots of things I call myself -
(if you can't poke fun at your own self...who can you? LOL)
There are lots of things I DON'T call myself.....

So when I saw one of my assignments for Echo Park
was to do an "expert blog post." it made me giggle.

only because...I could never EVER see myself as that.
expert? me? no way.

BUT - I'm sharing my project I made for my
~~"expert blog post"~~ "not so expert blog post"
I *might* be admitting I came up with my idea
& felt like I was "winging" it the entire time.

Meet Lilly.

She's 8 weeks.

She's a chihuahua mix. (they think a "chiweenie" meaning...dachshund)

She's 3 lbs.
Savannah adopted her from the DFW Animal Shelter in Irving (a no kill shelter!)

Lilly & 5 of her siblings were dropped off with their mom.
They were still nursing!
Mom is a full blood chihuahua & is still up for adoption here: Mia

(if you're in the DFW area...you should check this shelter out! it looks like a 5 star hotel!)

Lilly just had her first vet visit - she was making a WEIRD honking noise...
come to find out the little thing had an upper respiratory infection & had to have

an antibiotic & cough syrup . She's much better today - 48 hours later!
She's stolen our hearts already...

Wreath Week at American Crafts

I had so much fun making this! It's so easy too...
all I did was wrap jute (I used a thick jute) & hot glue
all of these hand cut hearts in different sizes...so easy, so fun
& looks SO CUTE in my scrap studio!

Here's what I made:

Just a simple card...
So simple in fact I'll share with you how I made it!

-I trimmed the honeymoon patterned paper 6" x 12", then folded & scored

-I hand cut a heart (eyeballed it - it's about 3" in width) from adore, then

-I used letters to spell out "l -ve" on the left side of the heart, adding a small ♥ sticker.

-I used letters to spell out "let me call you" around the top left side of the heart.

-I used the "sweetheart" sticker on the bottom part of the heart, using 3D adhesive.

-using a black pen - I drew stitching around the heart as well as inside the heart.

see? SUPER easy! ♥

I never did a goodbye to 2011 post, did I?
I never shared my new word for 2012, did I?

I'm a bad, BAD blogger.

Maybe it's because I was SO ready for 2011 to be over.
I don't even want to remember it.
No, I'm not bitter...
2011 just wasn't the year for any of us.
Sickness, surgeries, heart conditions, changing of colleges...
there's so many "yuck's" I could list...but I won't.
I picked the perfect word for 2011 - Strength.
It sure got tested. Well...no more!
Here's to kicking 2011 to the curb.
Sayonara...goodbye.

Hi, 2012...I'm one happy girl you are here.
I welcome YOU with open arms.
I can't wait to see what you have in store for me.
For our family, for our life.

I have a new word for you - 2012.
It's jubilant:
1) exultingly joyful
2) expressing joy

This year will be full of it, I just know!

We've already had 1 jubilant event -

somebody turned 21!

we did just what the b-day girl wanted...
had a FAST lunch then

then came back home for a quick change of clothes, then off to

her favorite restaurant for dinner:

Las Vegas, Nevada!! (well, she lives in Henderson...)
She's coming to see me & the family....

Wendy & I have been friends for 5 years.
I consider her one of my long lost sisters...
we had a little "bump" where we didn't talk for a couple of years..
we both
just got a little busy with life - but we decided to never
do THAT again!
I'm excited about her coming to Texas...she's never met Alan or Shaypher!
This will be so much fun...

so you see? jubilance at it's best so far...
it can only get better, right?

Can't wait to see what's around the corner for us in 2012!

seriously...I think I went to sleep, woke up and POOF:
she turned 21 (it happened way too fast!)

how I got so lucky...I'll never know!
Anyway...for this layout
I mixed a bunch of Amy Tangerine by American Crafts
with some Garden Cafe & even a little of the new Chap line.

I used a TON of Chap with a little Amy Tangerine (the stars)
and even some Holly Day letters.

gosh I welcome 2012 with OPEN ARMS!

I remember back in January I made a One Little Word -
and my word was "strength." Gosh...funny how that word
was NEEDED and USED so much this entire 2011.

I'll be thinking of a new OLW & will post soon...
I know when I chose "strength" it was for a whole different
reason than what I had to use it for...
but that's ok, I learned ALOT this year.
Especially alot about strength.

it's that time once again...
time for Elle's Studio December Inspiration Gallery!
it's a little sad for me...
this is my last inspiration for my DT term..
6 months flew by FAST!

Thank you Elle for everything & for choosing me to be
one of your Elle's Studio girls! I've had the BEST time being on your team.

For December, since it's the holidays - we did a lighter load
and with the December Project kits that we were sent.
I'm bad...I purchased the other one.
So my page & card are mixed with both of the kits.

Balzar Designs Stencil Hop - Circles in Squares

hi everyone!
welcome to another fun blog hop!
this hop is coming to you from a sweet lady I know & adore...
Julie Fei Fan Balzer!
She's created some pretty fab stencils
for The Crafters Workshop - I know you'll adore them like I do..
When she asked me to be a part of this fun hop, I jumped at the chance!

Julie is such an incredible artist & scrapbooker!

I've had the pleasure of working with her before on a DT
and she's just got PURE talent I tell you.
just look at this cool stencil I got to work with:
Circles in Squares:

Isn't that FUN?
Here's what I did with it:

I had the BEST time using paint in a THICK thick coat, letting it dry,

then spraying some sparkly white mist on top.

After I did that, I simply trimmed 3 rows of my circles in squares &

laid them out on my layout & added the rest of what you see...

these are so FUN & easy to use!

I can't wait to get more stencils. I ADORE them!

American Crafts Mini Whimsical Trees

today I'm sharing some trees I made for my December assignment
for American Crafts. I love how these little guys turned out:

I've got a full tutorial and a list of all the AC products
I used over at the blog - go check it out!
These were super easy to create.

I'm telling you - if you haven't checked out Pinterest yet -
you need to. I've gotten such GREAT ideas for the holidays
(and EVERY day) there.
I saw a different version of trees similar to these & decided
to take my own spin on them using
tiny tiny trees (they are 2" x 3")

and look!
Two Peas in a Bucket has them featured over at their site!

How bad am I?

Thanksgiving comes ONCE a year. My little family is only together
like this a little each time due to the fact that both of my birds
are flying away at college....

so how bad am I that
I.never.picked.up.my.camera.the.entire.Thanksgiving.weekend?

Little Black Dress November + a winner!

happy friday!
(**warning long post..picture heavy...have coffee in hand...**)
this week has certainly flown by...come to think of it...this month is flying
no wait..it's the entire year that's flying by.
pretty soon it will be Christmas...then the new year.
which means I'll be turning another year older (ack!)
which leads me to the following projects I did for
November's Little Black Dress kit: Rubies & Sapphire

I loved this months kit because it could be used for

SO many different projects. Christmas, Holiday or just any day...
I decided to chronicle my big adventure coming in Jan...(becoming 43).

Not alot of people believe me when I say I'm 42.5 years old.
I get "no way!" or "WHAT!" or "is that your sister (Savannah)?"
or "hey your little brother's cute!" (Shaypher).

I grin big when the latter 2 happen.
Mostly because it's torture for my precious kiddo's. ha!

yes, I married young, had babies young...so at almost 43 with my 2

off at their colleges - it's like I'm discovering a new me.
My body begs to differ as it is beginning to understand that

playing basketball with your husband can be hazardous to your health.
(and not to mention...a site that no beholder needs to encounter.)

I owe looking younger to my sweet precious mom.
She kept me out of the sun as a child (fair skinned girl I am) as much

as she could & always told me to take care of my skin. I actually listened!

Thanks mom! Plus...it's in the genes. My mom is a very beautiful, young looking

lady herself.

Oh man..sorry, I got sidetracked didn't I!

for my hop project, I worked with one of my favorites, For The Record

The colors are some of my favorites right now.
I love the rich reds, the blacks and mixed with the turquoise

and a bit of creams & greens...yum!

Heart Throb:

I hand cut my hearts a little bigger than I actually wanted, so I cut one
a little smaller & ended up using the leftover cut out as the frame for
my smaller heart at the bottom of my layout

the colors were PERFECT for the photo of my son I wanted to use.
I also incorporated 4 different May Arts Ribbons.
I am a sucker for ribbon. I'll use it for any project.
Be it boy, girl, whatever. I LOVE ribbon.

I also used the border with numbers & the ruler to sort of

define my son's SR. photo.
plus..he's one cute boy...I know, I'm biased.

Spooky?

I've always been the type of fall/halloween girl that likes the
happy, non scary stuff.
I guess it's because my mom always made the holiday
so fun...not scary in the least.
the decorations in our house growing up would be so cute, festive & happy.
I loved it!
Still do...
I'm so not a scary girl.

So when I saw these yard decorations at a pumpkin patch
not too long ago - I had to have them.
Only my car was FULL of people & there was no room to store them
for the ride home...they were HUGE.
I took their picture & decided...I'd go back the next day for them.
Only...they were gone. :(
I asked about any more & the farmers market I was visiting said they were
the last ones. I was SAD!

Anyway...
I've held on to these pictures for a year or so now
& decided when I saw the American Crafts Nightfall line
they'd be PERFECT on a scrapbook page.
Today I'm excited to share with you

Since we're now into fall (but Texas hasn't gotten the memo, yet.)
I dedicate today to pumpkins...or as I like to call my kids: "punkins"

yummy pumpkins or..as below - goofy pumpkins.

I made a mini album not too long ago using
American Crafts Nightfall for Scrapbook Trends titled..
"At The Patch."
I realize there is a big goof. *duh-me!*
when I saw my album in the magazine
I saw how goofy it looks to see "the" twice.

It was a funny goof, but after I realized it, I was so embarrassed...

but my super SUPER sweet husband reminded me that,

it wasn't a goof after all.

that in fact...I was at the...."The Patch."
(the patch we visited is named "the patch", hee hee!)

*I actually can't even believe I'm admitting my goof but ....

anyway - here's my album in full:

so if you can learn anything from my post today - it's that

it's ok to make a goof. just go with it...like I did.

(of course it's after the fact I realized it, LOL)

if you're a pumpkin person - you HAVE to try these:

(you know, I think I developed my love of the taste of pumpkin as I've gotten older -

as a kid, I NEVER ever touched it! I was missing out, obviously.)

and there's also Archer Farms Pumpkin Pie Spice - YUM.

Stamping with 2Peas

it's time!
the Stamping A to Z is up at 2Peas
all this week, startign with the letter "A"

I was THRILLED to be a guest for this event!
Today is letter "A" & here's a card I made with "American Crafts":

I used the CUTE new camera stamp from Amy Tangerine 's new line & a "sweet" word from the new Daydreams line, as well as American Crafts ink,
stamp markers, Thickers (I always think Thickers need to be capitalized..no idea why, ha!),
along with ribbon, festive Amy Tangerine papers
& gorgeous textured American Crafts Cardstock.

I also used one of my favorite new border punches by EK Success.

Here's simple directions on how to complete this card:
-trim cardstock 5" x 11" - fold & score.
-using border punch, punch along edge of cardstock.
-using corner rounder, round the bottom left side of card base.
-using a different colored cardstock with the border punch, punch along edge of cardstock.
-cut that strip in half and set aside.
-trim patterned paper 4 1/8" x 5" & round the bottom left side.
-tie ribbon around top of patterned paper, then adhere to card base.
-trim fabric paper to 2 2/8" x 5" & adhere to center of patterned paper
-add different colored punched border to each side, tucking in with adhesive.
-stamp 3 camera's on patterned paper & cut them out
-using a colorful stamp marker, color in spots on the camera (I did the ♥ & added dots)
-using another strip of light colored cardstock - stamp "sweet" using a bright ink
-cut that strip into a banner & cut 2 more strips into smaller banners.
-working from bottom to top - add the first "sweet" banner to the right of the bottom camera - on the left of your car
using 3D adhesive.
-add 2nd camera with banner to the right side of card using 3D adhesive
-add 3rd camera with banner to the left to left side of card, also using 3D adhesive
-now working our way back down - spell out "oh" with letters to right of first camera
-spell out "hey" with letters to left of 2nd camera
-spell out "girl" just UNDER stamped 'sweet' image.
-top it off with a colorful flair button to center of bow.

How Did You Ever Get To Be So Pretty:

my title is just a song that's been passed along for YEARS to babies in our family.

I know my mom sang it to all of us.
I remember singing it as a little girl to this little baby girl's mama!

Now that she's the newest babe in our family - she's donned the sweet song every time we see her.

I'd sing it to you - but you wouldn't want cats everywhere screeching.
let me just say it's a sweet little song that makes babies smile big!

I can't even tell you what tune it is - kind of a mix from a couple of french children's songs called

Alouette & Frere Jacques.

it's finally here...the weekend.
but wait. see, when you work from home & your husband works from home...
it's almost like all our days run together and every day is the weekend?
weird. I know. but it's us. gosh I love us.

back in the 80's we all loved Madonna, right? When my niece was born in '82
Madonna was ALL the rage. Funny how...many years later she's STILL around
(a little different, yes...but we all change, right?), still plugging away at tunes.
anyway...
my niece found this onesie for her sweet girl (pictured below) and had to get it
in every size available. who could blame her? she was raised with a mom and aunts who
LOVED their Madonna!

I love how it can be used for anything.

Little Black Dress September

today I wanted to share with you the rest of my
Little Black Dress September kit creations:

I knew the instant I saw that flash card that came in the
kit I HAD to use it as a birthday card!

using pictures from Instagram - I had to document how I adore being a girl!

she's so delightful! my sweet great niece, Presley is such a doll baby.

again, I used instagram pictures after using an iPhone app to make

the collage of her sweet photos.

and again, another instagram photo. this one is documenting my daughter's new

chapter in her life - her new college home. she loves it!

American Crafts Blog Hop

hello! happy Saturday morning to you.
welcome to the American Crafts Blog Hop!

this hop theme was fun to do. {I loved it!}

for our challenge:
each Design Team member combined the new CHA Summer 2011 lines:

and this is what I did:

That Girl

my journaling:

"that girl. she is a ray of sunshine. she is joy. she is beautiful. she is lovely.

she is amazing. she is silly. she is serious. she is determined. she is fabulous.

she is my favorite. she is delightful. she is loving. she is life. she is sassy.

she is wonderful. she is....MINE."

my supplies: patterned paper, fabric paper, chipboard letters, embellishments,

stickers, border stickers, adhesive, black pen, brads: American Crafts

pen: Zig (silver paint pen), scissors: Fiskars

directions on how I created this layout:

-start with pre-printed & stitched patterned paper.

-handcut clouds from patterned papers.

-choose each line you want to use then using paper cutter, trim each strip into

different widths & lengths. (some will be border strips from your paper you're using.)

-free hand cut "v's" into the edges of some strips.

-cut chalkboard paper along the design, then using trimmer, cut in half.

-arrange the strips how you want them, then glue down.

-add the chalkboard paper shapes at top and bottom of page.

-place your photo to the right side of your page, right in the middle of the strips

-place your clouds you cut earlier above your photo.

-along the right side of your photo, arrange stickers, brad, number

(cut from patterned paper) using 3D adhesive on a few of your choice.

-add journaling sticker under photo - to the left.

-add delights sticker to top left of your photo

-add border stickers under your photo.

-using chipboard letters (Thickers) - spell out "that" at the top of your layout,

just above the clouds and "{girl}" to the bottom of your layout, just under borders.

Add "S" just to the left of borders.

-journal around the edge of your shaped paper. (and on the shaped paper, if you desire.)

*don't forget:

-start on the American Crafts Blog.

-then visit ALL the designers blogs & leave comments on their posts.

-go BACK to the American Crafts Blog

& leave a comment there saying you did that -

you will be entered to win 2 new lines.

Since I'm being real...I'm sharing a layout that was VERY hard for me to do.

I was ready to do it though.
It was such therapy!

exactly 110 days ago, our hearts fell:

who knew when I took that photo that 14 days later our hearts would be so broken.
who knew that a little puppy would come into our lives & we'd never be the same.
who knew...at 9 years old, our sweet boy would become so violently sick & succumb
to a disease that would take his life. who knew....

This isn't exactly how I pictured I'd start my blog post today.

but due to the fact I stumbled upon a place that shall remain nameless...

a place that is rude, hurtful and idiotic (in my opinion)

a place that cowards feel the need to attack people...

I call them cowards because they post "anonymously"

because of their lack of being happy for someone when something good happens to them.

Well...I just have 2 things to say to you:

1) I choose not to accept your unsolicitedcriticism. It is YOURS to keep.

2) Last time I looked, this was MY blog to post what I wanted, when I wanted, how I wanted.

if you have a problem with it, please....hit the "x" and just don't visit me again.

now that that's behind me...let me post what i originally intended to:

Pinterest is one of my FAVORITE sites.

I love to go there and get inspiration. Be it in art form, words, photographs...

just a short post today...
